Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Blaufrankisch, St. Laurent, sparkling, still and dessert wines… The third edition of the Austrian Wine Meets Croatia tasting at the Westin Zagreb hotel was a little master class in Central European winemaking. Nineteen producers from four Austrian federal states arrived with 130 wines. Visitors had the chance to discover the styles, philosophies and terroirs of Austrian growers first-hand, to speak with the vintners or their representatives, and to deepen their knowledge of the contemporary Austrian wine scene. Manuela Plohl, Croatia’s first female wine academician, who earned her title in Austria, also moderated an impressive masterclass of 17 outstanding wines for the select few, that is, for those who registered in time. 
Through this project the Advantage Austria Zagreb office promotes the finest Austrian wines on the Croatian market. At the opening of the event, Gerhard Schlattl, Austrian trade counsellor in Croatia, and Yvonne Toncic-Sorinj, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Croatia, underlined the strong historical, economic and cultural ties between the Austrian and Croatian markets, and announced a fourth edition in early 2027.
