Čobanac, rolled veal in a thick brown sauce with a side and a mixed salad, and tačci with cream — plus Crikvenica-style lupice, padella squid and pear crumble — are two three-course menus, each with a starter, a main and a dessert, that 120 restaurants across 14 counties are offering at promotional fixed prices of around 30 euros through the end of November 2025. This is the Days of Croatian Tradition’s Flavours project, run by county and local tourist boards to develop new products and enrich the offering.
Taking part are Vukovar-Srijem County, Osijek-Baranja, Brod-Posavina, Osijek-Slavonia, Virovitica-Podravina, Bjelovar-Bilogora, Koprivnica-Križevci, Sisak-Moslavina, Međimurje, Varaždin, Krapina-Zagorje, Zagreb County, the City of Zagreb, Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Lika-Senj. Here is one of the menus from the Samobor area: a soup of mixed forest mushrooms, češnjovke sausages with sautéed potatoes and sauerkraut, and pancakes with chocolate and walnuts, served for 25 euros at the Gabrek 1929 tavern.
The Gabrek team will surely offer a fitting wine too. A young Portugizac would certainly be a good choice, as would a Riesling with some residual sugar. More detailed information about the project is on the website okusi.hr.
