They christened the must by the old rules at Ivan Enjingi’s, so it officially became wine. There was, of course, music, the traditionally excellent goulash, merriment and laughter, and midnight arrived quickly. And a surprise, too: the 1991 vintage! Grasevina, Rizvanac and Zweigelt from 34 years ago, then the Zweigelt from 1994, the first Venje – the one from 1998 – then the Grasevina 1998, the Traminac 1999… The wines showed just how well journeys through time suit them. The youngest old-timer on offer was the Riesling 2008. 
Lively and vibrant, young, it is an excellent preview of the Four Decades of Enjingi’s Rieslings masterclass on 22 November at Hotel Capital in central Zagreb, Jurisiceva 22. There Ivo will bring wines from the mid-1980s, from the 1990s, from the early 2000s… The story will probably begin with the Riesling 2015 now on the market. It is Enjingi’s youngest, then, while the great majority of other winemakers, not only here, would already be offering it as an archival wine. The masterclass will be at 4 p.m., just before the Rizling Raj(n)ski festival at the same hotel, where 36 wineries from Croatia, as well as Slovenia, Serbia and Germany, will present their Rieslings.
