This Friday, 11 July, brings the first of three summer Evenings of Mali Ston Oysters & Blato Wines at the tasting room of the Vinarija Blato 1902 winery, in the town of the same name in the centre of the island of Korcula. The hosts promise unforgettable evenings in which, in the heart of Blato’s famous Zlinje avenue, they will pair their wines with the freshness of oysters from the Bay of Mali Ston and other island delicacies. With music, of course. On the first evening, from 8:30 pm, the group Marinero will perform, with the following evenings announced for 25 July and 22 August.
Vrsar offers its Fishermen’s Festival (Ribarska festa) also on 11 July, but from 7 pm. Blue-fish polpette, stuffed srdele (pilchards), pljukanci pasta with kanastrele and wild asparagus, scallops, mussels, fish salad, a tuna burger, tuna pate and many other delicacies, plus the indispensable brodet (fish stew), can be tasted at stands devoted to white fish, blue fish, shellfish and fritto misto, as well as those with homemade cakes, Istrian wines and rakija spirits. The music will be in the hands of the Pazin Folklore Society, the Funbox Band and the LeMonde Band.
The Motovun Beer Fest takes place in the heart of Istria on 11 and 12 July. At the striking setting of the garden within Motovun’s walls, on both days from 6 pm visitors will be able to taste craft beers from Buzet’s Bruman Craft Brewery, Novigrad’s Jos jena by Konoba Nino, Kampanjola Eko Bira from Svetvincenat, Zagreb’s Pivovara Mlinarica, Bjelovar’s Zeppelin Craft Brewery and the host Craft Beer Motovunsko. On Friday the local cornhole club “4bags” will present itself, and on both days the foyer of the AF Study Centre on the main square will host exhibitions of the friendly “Toons & Tunes” festival from Brtonigla. On Saturday from 5 pm the “Brewers of Istria and Kvarner” Association will hold a home-brewing workshop for all who want to learn more about making beer at home. 
In the Zapresic area, meanwhile, Saturday and Sunday, 12 and 13 July, will be devoted to raspberries and rose as part of Tastes of Summer (Okusi ljeta). At 5 pm the doors open for a special wine gathering with rose and other wines, the juicy raspberries of the Hlasc family farm and gastro delicacies, hosted by the Znidaric winery from Marija Gorica, Durinski from Kupljenovo and Vugec from Donja Pusca. Visitors can also expect other sweet and savoury delicacies and music. Entry is free, but due to limited space the hosts recommend reserving a table at your preferred winery.
