The Friends’ Society “Wine in the Tradition of Living” is an association of winemakers and wine lovers that has worked for a full 30 years to preserve the winemaking tradition of the island of Korčula.
Nurturing viticulture and a love of the vine, refining cellar practices, highlighting the importance of autochthonous varieties and promoting the specificities of the terroir are just some of the association’s unwritten tenets.
As the crown of its work, the summer of 2017 was marked by the first Wine Night. In the park of Blato, in the very heart of the town, close to the famous avenue of linden trees, the winemakers of Korčula gathered and generously offered tastings of their wines, accompanied by fitting bites and a musical backdrop.
And so the story unexpectedly grew into something we had never dared hope for. We became recognisable precisely for that night. Year after year the number of exhibitors grew — island and guest wineries alike — the evening’s programme expanded, and with it the number of visitors. The park’s beautiful setting, outstanding wines, a gastronomic corner, live music and the company of fellow enthusiasts have become an indispensable part of Blato’s summer stage.

This year we continue in the same spirit: on 3 August, starting at 9 pm, we expect an equally successful and well-attended episode of the wine series. A tasting of wines from the island of Korčula and guest wineries awaits you, along with a rich gastronomic offer and music by a viola/guitar/cello trio — followed later in the evening by DJ Luka Pavić and Ante Sax.
