Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Frankovka are the varieties from which Belje plus makes its Goldberg Red, while Vilin ples, from the Crvik family winery of Komaji near Ćilipi in Konavle, is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Plavac Mali. These Croatian wines, from the 2022 and 2020 vintages respectively, won gold medals at the 21st Emozioni dal Mondo – Merlot e Cabernet Insieme judging in Bergamo, Italy. This is the world’s most significant competition dedicated to wines made from the two most widely planted varieties on the planet, from their blends, and from blends with other varieties.
A total of 242 wines from 27 countries of Europe, North and South America, Australia and Africa were entered, and the international panels comprised 77 oenologists and specialist journalists. Vilin Ples 2020 was also included among the best wines by journalists’ scores. Congratulations to the team of the Belje plus winery and to the Crvik family.
