Cmrečnjak’s Pušipel takes top honours at the Štrigova 2025 International Wine Competition

At the opening of the Urbanovo Pušipel Festival, the awards from the Štrigova 2025 International Wine Competition were traditionally presented. The judging panel, chaired by Ivan Alpeza, PhD, named the Chardonnay Ledena Berba (ice harvest) 2018 from the Bodren winery in Rusnica, near Hum na Sutli, as Champion of Quality in the category of predicate wines. The best white wine from a regular harvest was the Rajnski Rizling 2023 from the deMar winery in Luka Ludbreška, while the Zlatni Zvir 2018 from the Tomšić winery in Železna Gora was the best sparkling wine.Presentation of awards to the best wines at the Urbanovo Pušipel Festival 2025 in Štrigova.

The Pušipel Mađerka 2024 from the Cmrečnjak winery in Sveti Urban won the Pušipel category; the Cabernet Sauvignon Barrique 2022 from the Banfi Vina producer in Gornji Hraščan led the red wines; and the Pinot Crni 2024 from Meri Goričanec in Gradiščak topped the rosés. The Franjo Lebar Award for the best-scoring Sauvignon went to the Sauvignon Blanc Sveti Juraj 2024 from the Dvanajščak Kozol winery in Dragoslavec. Congratulations to the winners.
