Anyone who has visited Ivan Enjingi knows that the archive section of his cellar is a cave of treasure. The Kutjevo wine wizard will bring some of these royal jewels to Zagreb too, on Saturday, 22 November, to the masterclass Four Decades of Enjingi’s Rieslings. It begins at 4 p.m. and will be a festival in itself, immediately before the start of the official Rizling Raj(n)ski 2025 Festival at Hotel Capital in the centre of Zagreb, at Jurišićeva 22. In May, in Vetovo, at the celebration of Enjingi’s 85th birthday, his wines from 1998 delighted the guests. He will likely bring the Rhine Riesling from the turn of the millennium that was tasted then, and he has announced a bottle or two from the mid-1980s as well.
The prelude to this wine fireworks display will be the masterclass Rieslings from the Beautiful Blue Danube. Krešimir Kožić, our renowned sommelier and wine collector and a great devotee of this great variety, has assembled six celebrated Austrian Rieslings. They are Loimer Riesling Kamptal DAC 2024, Nigl Riesling Urgestein 2023, Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Singerriedel 2023, Weininger Riesling Rosengartl 2022, Hirsch Riesling Heiligenstein Rotfels 2022 and FX Pichler Riesling Kellerberg 2022. These are wines that every participant of the masterclass will long remember.
