Jelsa calling! On 18 October in Gdinj, a tasting of freshly pressed Hvar olive oils and wines from earlier vintages

A hedonistic celebration marking the close of the summer season in the municipality of Jelsa, with new olive oils on show alongside outstanding wines, will take place on Saturday, 18 October from 3 to 9 pm at the Seca Eva Marija tasting room in Gdinj on the island of Hvar, in Dalmatia. After the grape harvest, the olive harvest and pressing begin on Hvar in mid-October, so this is the perfect moment to welcome the new oil! Visitors will be able to compare the new olive oil with last year’s and note the differences in aromatics. Mediterranean bites will be prepared by Sandra Rončević, Tanja Pastuović Klaić and Krsto Barbić, using herbs from the nearby fragrant Fjori Fora garden. They will be paired with wines made from bogdanuša, prč, pošip, darnekuša (all traditional Hvar whites) and plavac mali, Dalmatia’s flagship red. Not even possible rain will spoil the story; the gathering will simply move from the terrace into the tasting room. A place can be reserved by e-mail at evamcurin@gmail.com.Guests enjoying Mediterranean bites, olive oil and wines from bogdanuša and plavac mali on Hvar.
