In recent years the Kvarner Wines Association has become the most exciting and best-organised driving force of Croatia’s wine scene. Professionally, systematically and boldly, it is building a regional wine identity, and today it stands as an example of how smart, modern and internationally relevant wine marketing is done. In 2026 Kvarner will be the first European Region of Gastronomy from Croatia, and the Kvarner Wines Association is one of four principal stakeholders in the consortium that will carry out the project, alongside the Kvarner Tourist Board, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
This year the association took another major step: at the Merano Wine Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious wine fairs, it presented wines from Kvarner’s indigenous varieties – Žlahtina, Jarbola, Trojišćina, Sansigot, white blends… The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Kvarner Tourist Board lent their support. As part of the festival, the masterclass The Best of Kvarner – European Region of Gastronomy 2026 was held, which delighted the audience and confirmed that Kvarner has arrived on the international map of great wine stories.
