Tourists often do not know the real prices of wine, but they have heard that ours are expensive. We must prevent excessive profits that harm the entire supply chain, emphasised Tomislav Panenić, director of the Graševina Croatica association, on the The drop that overflows the glass panel at the 4th GO Conference, organised at the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek by the Graševina Croatica association, the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH) and the Osijek-Baranja County Tourist Board, with the support of Osijek-Baranja County and the City of Osijek.
We import almost six times more wine than we export. Import coverage by exports has fallen below 31 percent, which clearly reflects the decline in domestic production, said Dragan Kovačević, vice-president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) for agriculture and tourism. The drop that instils confidence was the title of the second discussion, devoted to branding Slavonia and the Croatian Danube region as a wine destination. Wine tourism in Slavonia is flourishing. As a European Wine Region, the growing number of wine-focused events shows that we have reason for optimism, said Mislav Matišić, deputy director of the Osijek-Baranja County Tourist Board.
