At the 3rd Hungarian Open Sommelier Championship, held in Budapest on 9 and 10 June 2026, the Croatian Sommelier Club was represented by Kristijan Harjač and Mate Negulić, two of Croatia’s leading sommeliers of the moment.
In a field of 19 competitors from Hungary and other countries, Kristijan Harjač won the title of Best Young Sommelier — reserved for competitors under 30 — for the second year running, successfully defending last year’s title.
The competition was organised by the Magyar Sommelier Club, and participants demonstrated their knowledge and skills through demanding theoretical and practical tasks. The winners were decided by an international jury that included Master Sommeliers Matthew Citriglia (USA), Jonathan Gouveia (Denmark) and Tamás Czinki (Hungary).

Congratulations to Kristijan Harjač on another great international success, and to Mate Negulić for an excellent showing of Croatian sommelier craft.
