On the exceptional viticultural micro-location of Bracanija, where the beauty and quality of the white soil come into full expression, with a view taking in Buje, the sea and the Alps, and with optimal exposure, we have begun a new phase in the development of our plantings, the Bastian winery team boasted, with good reason, on Facebook.
In preparation for planting, over the previous years they sowed barley and alfalfa to let the soil structure regenerate, increase organic matter and activate microbiological life, thereby building a long-term healthy viticultural foundation.
After a careful analysis of the site, row orientation and drainage conditions, we planted top-quality vines of Malvazija Istarska, Chardonnay, Teran, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The varieties are laid out in keeping with the characteristics of the micro-location so as to yield grapes for wines with a pronounced varietal and site identity.
For us, a vineyard is not merely a planting; it is a living organism, a space of dialogue between nature and man, the Bastian team said. Bravo!
