The eleventh Sommelier Championship of Istria and Kvarner began at the Hotel Ičići on Monday, 7 April 2025. In the qualifying stage of the competition the candidates will demonstrate their professional knowledge by completing a written test, correcting a wine list and describing wines. The eight best will continue in the semifinal on Monday, 14 April, at Morosini Grimani Castle in Svetvinčenat. Once again they will sit a test, then identify wine personalities and vineyard sites, taste wines blind and prove themselves in other practical tasks. The final will take place before an audience from 5 p.m., where the three finalists will serve sparkling wine, spot errors in a wine list, decant and identify wines, and pair them with dishes… Nineteen sommeliers are taking part in the 11th championship:
