Croatian Decanter-awarded wines presented – every medal absolutely deserved

Good wine is not like any other drink. It is powerfully bound to place and is a direct product of the landscape, the climate, the weather and the soil. But it is even more than that: culture, history and tradition matter too, as do the people who shaped the wines. And all of it comes together in the glass, said Caroline Gilby, Master of Wine and DWWA Regional Chair for the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe, Croatia and Slovenia, on the private beach of the Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Savudrija at the Decanter 2025 Winners Showcase, a presentation of Croatian wines that scored 90 points or more at this year’s Decanter judging. The presentation was also attended by Beth Willard, Co-Chair of the Decanter World Wine Awards, who underlined that Croatia is an exceptionally important wine country. The wines grow more interesting every year and the quality keeps getting better and better. With 386 medals, Croatia took an impressive eighth place on the list of countries with the most distinctions. Our wines won 256 bronze, meaning at least 86 points, 115 silver (90 to 94 points), 14 gold, which requires 95 or 96 points, and a Platinum with 97 points out of 100. We published the Platinum wine and the list of golds on 19 June, and all the awarded Croatian wines can be found on Decanter’s website.
