In Varaždin, the judges at the unofficial world championship of Sauvignon, held under the auspices of the prestigious wine-evaluation body Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, ruled that the Sauvignon of the Zelina winery Puhelek Purek from 2025 was worthy of a Grand Gold. Gold also travels to Zelina for the Bedekovich Sauvignon Springtime Premium Eko 2025, and the Kopjar winery, a mere twenty kilometres away, won gold for its Sauvignon Blanc Premium 2023. Two golds also went to Slavonia – to Kutjevo d.d. for the De Gotho Sauvignon 2025 and to Feričanci for the Enosophia Nobleman 2025 – and, to make sure Istria took home its gold as well, the Franković winery saw to it with its Sauvignon from 2025.
Croatia also claimed seven silver medals, earned by the wineries Galić, Tomaz, Lagradi, Kopjar, Literari, Vlahović and Ivančić.
