For a full two decades, since 2005, the Emozioni dal Mondo – Merlot e Cabernet Insieme judging in Bergamo has been the only one officially recognised by the OIV, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, headquartered in Paris. It is dedicated to wines made from these two varieties and their crossings, as well as to blends. 
This year the 21st edition falls on 17 October, with results announced the following day. The organiser also exhibits the top-rated wines at Vinitaly in Verona, one of the largest fairs in Europe. Croatian wineries regularly take top honours in Bergamo, and last year Agrolaguna and Krauthaker both had gold-winning Merlots.
